I was just watching the earlier episodes of South Park...and let me tell you something I noticed.
Whenever Kenny died, Kyle and Stan would do their traditional "Oh my God, they killed Kenny" and "You bastards." But of course, they would completely forget about him not even two seconds afterwards.
Cartman had a bit of a different approach to these things at times. Sometimes he'd go along with Stan and Kyle, but sometimes not.

It is possible that Kenny is Cartman's only real friend and he does not understand how to react to having such a friend, or the opposite since Stan and Kyle at some points have stated that Kenny isn't really their friend and that they don't give a crap about him (although this is usually whenever they want to avoid him for some reason, such as when he had chickenpox). In the episode, "Kenny Dies", Cartman proclaims that Kenny is his best friend among the three boys, but at the end of the episode it is implied that Cartman is Kenny's "worst friend" since he exploited Kenny's illness for personal gain. However, he had cried over Kenny's illness before discovering the possibility of making his own "Shakeys".
At the end of the episode "Pinkeye", Cartman was the only one sobbing over Kenny's death. In fact, Cartman even showed a little concern for Kenny when he found out his new girlfriend was a whore in "The Ring". In the episode "Chinpokomon", after Kenny has a seizure and is rendered unresponsive after playing the Chinpokomon video game, Cartman was the only one of the three who seemed to notice that rats were swarming over Kenny and attempting to eat him, and the only one to detach them, telling them, "Bad rats, he isn't dead yet!", and unlike Stan and Kyle (who immediately laughed), he was initially disgusted when it was discovered the rats had actually eaten him from the inside out, before proceeding to laugh. Also in the episode "Butt Out", he noticed that Kenny was eating his own hand out of boredom. Whilst he did nothing, he still mentioned it to the boys as if to say 'should we help him?' Kenny also aided Cartman in his escape when Cartman was charged with hate crimes.

That's just a little something I found :T

South Park; Kenny, Cartman, Stan, & Kyle (c) Matt n Trey

I wasn't very clear ^^;
These aren't actually my words, but I agree with them. This was found on a site that I can't find anymore for some reason.
But yeah, it's all agreeable to me.

I really liked seeing Kenny and Cartman's rickety friendship in the episodes; it's much more interesting to me than, say, Stan and Kyle's. Kenny needs someone to acknowledge him, and Cartman just needs a friend to honestly care about. Or uh, that's just what I like to think. :V

Also, I hope those BFF necklaces were actually canon in some sort of backstory asdf.

Exactly what I'm thinking.
Sure, Stan and Kyle's relationship is great, but I just enjoy Kenny and Cartman's more.

And me too holy faaf <3

That is my favorite episode of all time.
Although a lot of the parts made me choke up ;-; Hell, the entire episode made me choke up.

But I love it, because it shows that South Park is more than just crude humor.

"So, if you could have one wish, what would it be?"
"...I guess the only thing I wish is not to die."
"What if you had TWO wishes? What would your second one be? ^^;"

gets me every time ;-;
